Patience is a virtue. Anyone who promises you that you will be rich by tomorrow if you buy their book, system, program, business, or anything kind of snake oil that is currently being pitched online - IS LYING TO YOU.

Yes, it is true that some people come up with an idea that turns them into a millionaire almost over-night. It is also true that some people win the Lottery. Your odds of winning the Lottery are probably greater than making a million online over-night so I suggest you buy lottery tickets instead if that is your dream.

You will see many sites that tell you how someone sent out an email to his list and made hundreds of thousands of dollars over-night. This is also true, and it happens daily. However, they do not tell you much it cost that person to build that list, nor they tell you how long it took them to create that list. These people did NOT come online yesterday and make hundreds of thousands of dollars today - period.

If someone is selling an easy way to make money online product - they are indeed making easy money. The make easy money by taking your money. The only way you can replicate what they have done is by selling someone else an easy way to make money online scam. These are not genuine businesses, they are your typical pyramid scam where sooner or later the people who join last will be unable to sell the scam.

Patience Is A Virtue

I am not suggesting you have patience just because you won't make money online over-night.

If you are going to make money online you have to understand the culture of the internet. The internet is NOT a sea of faceless masses.

If you approach your business online as selling to an audience of hundreds of millions of people you will FAIL. Each and every one of those millions of people is a unique person just like you and me.

No body likes to be sold something they aren't interested in or don't want.  So if you are in a big hurry to sell your products without first finding someone who is actually interested in what you are selling - you will get a bad reputation.  Once you have a bad reputation online it will follow you everywhere.

If you are impatient it will not only cost you sales, it will cost you relationships.

 Relationships are the biggest key to making money online.

Read that line again. Memorize it. Say it to yourself every time you sit down to log on to your computer.

In a recent email I received from John Delavera he tells the story of a woman who approached him wanting to write some articles for him. Although he has his own staff John agreed to pay this woman her asking price of $3 an article after researching the quality of her work.

John says:

I ordered 10 articles - so to see how the story will go.
She thanked me, I paid 50% in advance (I could pay
the $30 at once of course, but it's good to go step by
step when you want to see how people react, in order
to know them better.)

After 3 or days I think, she sent a message to me
saying that she write the first articles but she was not
ready to pass her mental babies to me for such a
low price... and that it'd not be fair for her to get some
peanuts, and for me to make a fortune with her work.

I could just forget the $15 and save some energy.

Unfortunately I did not do that. What I did instead was
first to remind to her that I did not ask for anything.
She came to me. I did not setup the price.. She did.
To make the story short, I offered her to pay $15 per
article so to make it happy, after her doubts how to evaluate
the price per article that could make her happy. We had
a deal, and I got the articles.

The story did not end there. John went on to give her a regular contract in return for access to his incredible software. What did she do with this new relationship that was on the verge of making her dreams come true ......?

She got impatient and frustrated and walked away of course!

You can not imagine the opportunity that this woman lost out on.

Patience is a virtue. 

Build your online business and your online relationships with integrity.  Always treat customers and social contacts as you would have them treat you.

Remember, you are NOT a walking sales pitch and they are real people NOT a credit card waiting to be exploited.

Making money online is like a marathon.  There always a crowd of people jostling at the starting line every time some new product is launched, or some new way of doing things is discovered. 

But the starting line is not what counts.  It is the FINISH LINE that matters.  At the end of a marathon there is only a handful of people in contention for a medal.  So it is with online businesses.  Only a handful of people put in the hard yards to be successful. 

So when starting out online it seems like there is lots of competition and you are in a sprint to the finish to get the gold - IT IS A MYTH.  You are in a marathon and of those people jostling you on the starting line 98% will fail miserably.
