A blog is the easiest entry level way to attract cash online... And don't be fooled that just because it is easiest method it won't generate much cash.  There are bloggers online who make a full time living from their blogs (and it is a very healthy living at that!).

Cash attraction is dependent on traffic attraction.  If you don't have traffic (people surfing your website) you won't have money flowing in.  Blogs are the easiest form of website to set up and search engines love them! 

I say start with a blog because you want a hub - a central focal point to direct all your traffic to.  You can set up Squidoo Lenses and Hub Pages which I will encourage you to do.  But these are not your main site and their goal is to send traffic back to your blog.  It is possible to make money on these sites but there several reasons that you should use a blog as your main cash attraction technique when starting out online.

First of all, these are not hosted on your domain.  Therefore you do not have control (more about that later).  Second of all, the number of people who make more than pocket money from these sites is few - yes some people do, but I suggest that they would make a lot more if they put that amount of effort into creating their own sites.

Choosing your cash attraction blogging platform. 

You can use one of a number of free hosted blog sites to build your blog - but don't!  If you don't own the domain, and control the hosting that publishes your site, you are not in control.

Here is why control is important.  If you have a free blog and the host (ie wordpress, blogger, etc) decide they don't like what you are doing for any reason they can turn your blog off ... oops sorry.  You just lost all the work you had done, and your sites credibility.

If you own the domain, you own a piece of virtual real estate which, just like its real world real estate counterpart, has the ability to appreciate (or grow in value).  The work you do building a domain in the search engines etc is a saleable commodity - if you own it!

So go buy one now.  I recommend Godaddy.com if you are just starting because they are one of the more user friendly and cheapest. Always type "Godaddy Coupons"  into Google first and find a discount coupon to give you the best price!  Do not buy any of the 1000 other products they try to sell you - you don't need them (especially if you don't know what they do).

I personally have moved my of my domain registrations to NameCheap.com because although their prices maybe slightly higher than Godaddy, at the time of writing they included private registration at no cost (unlike Godaddy).  As always, check for a coupon to get a discount.

Always pay for hosting rather than use a free hosting service and DO NOT get hosting from the same place you bought your domain from. You may never experience a problem by getting your hosting and domains from the same company - but if you ever do experience a problem you will regret that choice.

Definitely do NOT use the free domain registration that many hosts offer.  I have lost 2 domains by doing exactly that.  If for any reason you cancel the hosting they will not release the domain to you - even if you offer to pay. 

Once you have your domain registered and transferred to your hosting account you are ready to upload your blog.  With most good hosting companies, and I recommend Hostgator for most new people, you will be able to upload a Wordpress blog with Fantastico (which is as easy as programming gets). 

With your blog uploaded you are ready to begin your cash attraction marketing.

The keys to blogging are simple.  Post good content regularly.  The more often you post the better your results will be.  If your content is really good you will find other people linking to your blog and traffic will flood in.

Keep each post focused around a specific keyword or phrase that you have chosen to target with that post to maximize your search engine profile.
